Playa de las Catedrales (in Galician : As Catedrais) is the name of the beach resort of Aguas Santas (in Galician : Praia de Augas Santas), located in the municipality of Ribadeo (parish of A Devesa ) at the expense of province of Lugo ( Galicia ) on the sea of Biscay . It is about ten miles west of the town of Ribadeo . It is known by this name because of the appearance of the cliffs. It has been declared natural monument by the Ministry of Environment of the Junta de Galicia .
The characteristic of the beach are the arches and caves, only visible to the beach during low tide . During high tide the beach is relatively small, with fine sand and is still suitable for swimming.
